When Scarborough AFC's Graeme Farrow in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye VfL Blau Weiß's goalie prevented a goal. In the 11thth minute of the game Vince Burgess who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but VfL Blau Weiß's Jorg Gerhold was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 13 minutes into the match, Vince Burgess had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jorg Gerhold. VfL Blau Weiß's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vince Burgess was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In the 15th minute, Ian Keane hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 16th minute Welf Surkemper shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shane Portway saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 17th minute Graeme Farrow shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorg Gerhold saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 20th minute Welf Surkemper shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shane Portway saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. VfL Blau Weiß's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Hagen Klein in the 21st minute. The corner led VfL Blau Weiß's Hagen Klein to fire away a dangerous shot which Shane Portway despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vince Burgess in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jorg Gerhold saved VfL Blau Weiß from getting behind. In the 27thth minute of the game Graeme Farrow who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but VfL Blau Weiß's Jorg Gerhold was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some careless play in the VfL Blau Weiß defense, Graeme Farrow kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jorg Gerhold. The VfL Blau Weiß fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jorg Gerhold should have stopped the shot. Jorg Gerhold stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Graeme Farrow's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Welf Surkemper took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Shane Portway to make any attempt to save it. Claudius Thumser's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Shane Portway firmly grabbed it by the left post. Sören Gewalt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Shane Portway made a huge save. After the first half Scarborough AFC were leading 2-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Welf Surkemper stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, VfL Blau Weiß's Moritz Diers got a free kick in the 51st minute. The audience was convinced that Vince Burgess's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jorg Gerhold was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. After 65 minutes VfL Blau Weiß's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ben Proctor who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Ben Proctor got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jorg Gerhold quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Welf Surkemper's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Shane Portway read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. Graeme Farrow's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 71stth minute, Jorg Gerhold skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Graeme Farrows short, quick shot in the 74thth minute got Jorg Gerhold to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Scarborough AFC's Iain Keane shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 75th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Jorg Gerhold but with some difficulty. Scarborough AFC's Shane Portway played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Welf Surkemper in the 79th minute of play. After 80 played minutes Scarborough AFC got a freekick which was hit by Ian Keane. An unexpectedly hard shot by Welf Surkemper in the 81st minute of play forced Scarborough AFC's goalkeeper Shane Portway to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th minute, Simon Schulzki got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 88 minutes into the game, Graeme Farrow cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-4. Jorg Gerhold was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ian Keane's late challenge caught a VfL Blau Weiß's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ian Keane helped the player get up and apologised. Ian Keane kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Shane Portway showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Welf Surkemper, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. In the 95th minute, Graeme Farrow made a precise shot to the right of Jorg Gerhold. VfL Blau Weiß's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-5.
