The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Maidstone United AFC's zone, Tadhg Murphy stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mickey Naisbitt came out of the goal and Tadhg Murphy tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rannal McTom received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Mickey Naisbitt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ailín McStephen struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Mickey Naisbitt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Drommahane AF. If Tadhg Murphy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rannal McTom scored 1-1 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mickey Naisbitt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rannal McTom in the 25th minute of play forced Maidstone United AFC's goalkeeper Mickey Naisbitt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Ailín McStephen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mickey Naisbitt. Maidstone United AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ailín McStephen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Mickey Naisbitt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rannal McTom in the 30th minute of play. Maidstone United AFC's Keanu Lister quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Dermot Holt, made in the 40th minute of the game. Bartley Colwell made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Pat Clarke sent off a good shot on target. If Rannal McTom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rannal McTom fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mickey Naisbitt having to interfere.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Richard Lindley to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, Drommahane AF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pearse McSteven to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rannal McTom in the 58th minute of play forced Maidstone United AFC's goalkeeper Mickey Naisbitt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bartley Colwell stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mike Way's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. Tadhg Murphy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pearse McSteven during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Drommahane AF getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Pearse McSteven hit a great ball. Maidstone United AFC's Richard Lindley got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rannal McTom in the 74th minute of play forced Maidstone United AFC's goalkeeper Mickey Naisbitt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Drommahane AF getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Ailín McStephen hit a great ball. Bartley Colwell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mike Way, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. 79 minutes into the match, Drommahane AF's Tadhg Murphy sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mickey Naisbitt narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 83rd minute Rannal McTom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mickey Naisbitt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Rannal McTom came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Drommahane AF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rannal McTom couldn't finish the play. A throw-in in the 93rd minute of the game was made by Les Calder with Pat Clarke as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 94th match minute, Drommahane AF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Logan Mullan to maneuver through the defense. Stew Porter took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 96th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Bartley Colwell. Drommahane AF's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When the final whistle sounded Drommahane AF left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Maidstone United AFC.
