Drommahane AF's supporters rose to their feet, but Rannal McTom was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paul Newbury breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With an all-out effort, New York Cosmos AFC's Bartley Colwell threw himself towards the right post 18 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Benjamin Edmonton, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Bartley Colwell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benjamin Edmonton, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. In the 19th minute, Benjamin Edmonton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gwyn Blacksmith took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bartley Colwell. Bartley Colwell dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. If Tadhg Murphy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bartley Colwell made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Pete Rundle sent off a good shot on target. New York Cosmos AFC's Paul Newbury played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rannal McTom in the 33rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jo Allanson in the 38th minute of play forced Drommahane AF's goalkeeper Bartley Colwell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tadhg Murphy during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Tadhg Murphy hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the New York Cosmos AFC defense, Rannal McTom kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paul Newbury. The New York Cosmos AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paul Newbury should have stopped the shot.

The wind increased when Rannal McTom made the kick off in the second half. Blair Elam charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Blair Elam the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The crowd rose to their feet as Rannal McTom kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Paul Newbury. That made the score 1-2 in the 60 minute of play. The throw-in from Benjamin Edmonton in the 69th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Drommahane AF's Dermot Holt. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dermot Holt in the 70th minute of play forced New York Cosmos AFC's goalkeeper Paul Newbury to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jo Allanson charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Pete Rundle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Bartley Colwell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bartley Colwell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pete Rundle in the 90th minute of the match. Bartley Colwell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pete Rundle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The New York Cosmos AFC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Drommahane AF's performance. The match ended with a win for Drommahane AF.
