In the 5th minute Sam Lowe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Louie Hicks saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 6th match minute, Nancy AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Blair Trueman to maneuver through the defense. Walter Gardner didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kristian Tanner went, in the 6th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. When Jimmy Riad came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Nancy AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jimmy Riad couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jack Taylor in the 15th minute of play forced Wakefield Wanderers's goalkeeper Louie Hicks to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 18 minutes of play, Nancy AFC's Jimmy Riad made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Louie Hicks was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 23rd minute, Jimmy Riad made a precise shot to the right of Louie Hicks. Wakefield Wanderers's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. 28 minutes into the game, Wakefield Wanderers's Darryl Simpson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Walter Gardner made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. In the 31st minute, Jack Taylor left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nancy AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. Ron Garrett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Walter Gardner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

In the 62ndth minute of the game Darryl Simpson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Nancy AFC's Walter Gardner was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 62nd minute, Felix Howard hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ron Garrett blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Walter Gardner having to make a save. In the 69th minute, Nancy AFC's Jimmy Riad ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Louie Hicks. Louie Hicks yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-4. Jack Taylor could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Louie Hicks made a huge save. Louie Hicks made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jimmy Riad in the 81st minute of play. In the 88th minute, Sam Lowe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 93 minutes into the match, Wakefield Wanderers's goal looked a bit too open when Jimmy Riad came free, but Louie Hicks reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match was over Nancy AFC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Wakefield Wanderers throughout the match.
