Gaziantep's Mutlu Ulutan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Darryl Simpson in the 11th minute of play. Ron Garrett recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fraser Bond's late challenge caught a Gaziantep's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fraser Bond helped the player get up and apologised. In the 15th match minute, Wakefield Wanderers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fraser Bond to maneuver through the defense. If Acun Omural had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Acun Omural received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Louie Hicks tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gaziantep's Mutlu Ulutan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Gaziantep from getting a goal against them. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Wakefield Wanderers's goalkeeper Louie Hicks, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Aras Görkem Seyidhan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Louie Hicks tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mutlu Ulutan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Darryl Simpson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mutlu Ulutan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darryl Simpson in the 37th minute of play. 38 minutes into the game, Acun Omural was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gaziantep's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wakefield Wanderers the free kick. A collision led to Gaziantep getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Acun Omural hit a great ball. Ron Garrett was extremely unlucky when he, in the 39th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The Wakefield Wanderers fans' excitement grew in the 40th match minute when Wakefield Wanderers's Darryl Simpson looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The crowd rose to their feet as Wakefield Wanderers's Ron Garrett slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mutlu Ulutan. That made the score 3-0 after 43 minutes of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nedim Batırhan made a kick off. Mutlu Ulutan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Darryl Simpson, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darryl Simpson in the 55th minute of play forced Gaziantep's goalkeeper Mutlu Ulutan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 60 minutes, Jez Rushforth mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wakefield Wanderers and the Gaziantep players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jez Rushforth hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. In the 66th minute, Kristopher Scrivener left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Wakefield Wanderers fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. In the 73rd match minute, Wakefield Wanderers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nial Sherman to maneuver through the defense. 75 minutes into the match, Gaziantep's Nedim Batırhan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Louie Hicks narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mutlu Ulutan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darryl Simpson in the 79th minute of play. Mutlu Ulutan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alastair Quantrill in the 83rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Wakefield Wanderers's Nial Sherman got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Louie Hicks took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Acun Omural, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
