In the 2nd minute, Rodolfo Hurtado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 4 minutes into the game, Ron Garrett was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wakefield Wanderers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Carrizal FC the free kick. In the 4th minute, Ron Garrett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice moves Rodolfo Hurtado could shoot a difficult shot in the 11th minute, which Louie Hicks however easily saved by the left post. In the 15th minute Esteban Chavarria shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Louie Hicks saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 16 minutes into the game, Wakefield Wanderers's Ron Garrett nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Menéndez Dohrmann made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Esteban Chavarria sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nial Sherman hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. 27 minutes into the match, Wakefield Wanderers's goal looked a bit too open when Esteban Chavarria came free, but Louie Hicks reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Carrizal FC's zone, Ron Garrett stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Menéndez Dohrmann came out of the goal and Ron Garrett tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Menéndez Dohrmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Darryl Simpson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A nice corner shot did that Alastair Quantrill got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Menéndez Dohrmann quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 40 minutes had been played when some careless play by Carrizal FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Kristian Tanner was slow to take the kick. During this time Wakefield Wanderers's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Kristian Tanner almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Carrizal FC's Menéndez Dohrmann did a great save. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Esteban Chavarria made a kick off. Menéndez Dohrmann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ron Garrett in the 51st minute. Darryl Simpson might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Menéndez Dohrmann. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Darryl Simpson ran back to his position shaking his head. 59 minutes into the match, Carrizal FC's goal looked a bit too open when Darryl Simpson came free, but Menéndez Dohrmann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wakefield Wanderers's Darryl Simpson got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Louie Hicks made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolfo Hurtado in the 63rd minute of play. Menéndez Dohrmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Darryl Simpson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodolfo Hurtado in the 65th minute of play forced Wakefield Wanderers's goalkeeper Louie Hicks to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Carrizal FC booed when Wakefield Wanderers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nial Sherman didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 70th minute, José Alberto Carrizo made a precise shot to the right of Louie Hicks. Wakefield Wanderers's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Darryl Simpson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Menéndez Dohrmann stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Darryl Simpson's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. In the 81stth minute of the game Rodolfo Hurtado who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Wakefield Wanderers's Louie Hicks was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 86th minute, Ron Garrett fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Darryl Simpson took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Menéndez Dohrmann. Menéndez Dohrmann dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. When Nial Sherman came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Wakefield Wanderers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nial Sherman couldn't finish the play. Rodolfo Hurtado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Louie Hicks tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Wakefield Wanderers players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Carrizal FC from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
