When the match clock showed 10 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Claudio Quiroga sped through Barr Point's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jude Bonham. Louis Hudson made in the 14th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Chris Bowler immediately put the ball in play. After some careless play in the Barr Point defense, Claudio Quiroga kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jude Bonham. The Barr Point fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jude Bonham should have stopped the shot. In the 27th minute, Claudio Quiroga left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Monitor Huáscar fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Barr Point's goalkeeper Jude Bonham, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudio Quiroga in the 33rd minute of play forced Barr Point's goalkeeper Jude Bonham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Den Newland to strike the kick off in the second half.
