Jon Iruegas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolas Froila, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ronaldão Nogueira was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldão Nogueira in the 51st minute of play forced Celtic FC's goalkeeper Sebastián Junes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 76th minute Bernd Goorts shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jon Iruegas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sporting Cristal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronaldão Nogueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 91 minutes into the match, Ronaldão Nogueira notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Celtic FC's Sebastián Junes. Sebastián Junes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sporting Cristal's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
