The supporters of AVAÍ F.C. booed when YESHUA F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristos Contreras didn't get a good kick on the ball. Anatole Guidon hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Cristos Contreras blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcos Buffon having to make a save. 26 minutes into the match, AVAÍ F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when David Torres came free, but Marcos Buffon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manfredo Gerber's late challenge caught a YESHUA F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manfredo Gerber helped the player get up and apologised. Ricardo Zamora took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dario Alegría, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Walmyr Salles got free with Ricardo Zamora in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 39 played minutes AVAÍ F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Manfredo Gerber. 45 minutes into the game, YESHUA F.C's David Torres nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcos Buffon made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. After the first half YESHUA F.C were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Ricardo Zamora showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alex Sági, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. AVAÍ F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luiz Pombal in the 61st minute. The supporters of YESHUA F.C booed when AVAÍ F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Innocenzio Corales didn't get a good kick on the ball. AVAÍ F.C. made a substitution. Tarcisio Chaves replaced Luiz Pombal. Innocenzio Corales kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Marcos Buffon made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. After a defensive mix-up in YESHUA F.C's zone, Walmyr Salles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Zamora came out of the goal and Walmyr Salles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, AVAÍ F.C.'s Marcos Buffon got control of the ball when Carlos Fernando Fantini tried to sneak it across the goal line. AVAÍ F.C.'s Marcos Buffon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matt Sharples in the 89th minute of play. 90 minutes into the match, AVAÍ F.C.'s goalkeeper Marcos Buffon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carlos Fernando Fantini.
