Jan-Olof Eliasson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Paulo Mendes having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hugo Vellito during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 15th minute, Hugo Vellito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 16 minutes into the match, Fulgencio Gartzi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zé Paulo Mendes. New Pi's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fulgencio Gartzi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After 18 played minutes La Gallardeta got a freekick which was hit by Jan-Olof Eliasson. Fulgencio Gartzi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Zé Paulo Mendes made a huge save. La Gallardeta's Belchior Saldanha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cayetano Cordeiro in the 24th minute of play. Belchior Saldanha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cayetano Cordeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Fulgencio Gartzi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, New Pi's Zé Paulo Mendes got control of the ball when Jan-Olof Eliasson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fabio Frisco charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fabio Frisco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 41st minute, Fabio Frisco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jan-Olof Eliasson's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Zé Paulo Mendes firmly grabbed it by the left post. Zé Paulo Mendes made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Jan-Olof Eliasson sent off a good shot on target.

The wind increased when Fulgencio Gartzi made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, La Gallardeta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jan-Olof Eliasson to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan-Olof Eliasson in the 55th minute of play forced New Pi's goalkeeper Zé Paulo Mendes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 55th minute, Jan-Olof Eliasson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zé Paulo Mendes was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Shaun Jackson hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. The corner led La Gallardeta's Clemente Anaya to fire away a dangerous shot which Zé Paulo Mendes despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After a rather tough play, New Pi's Shaun Jackson got a free kick in the 86th minute. After some careless play in the New Pi defense, Fulgencio Gartzi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zé Paulo Mendes. The New Pi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zé Paulo Mendes should have stopped the shot. Zé Paulo Mendes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan-Olof Eliasson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zé Paulo Mendes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fulgencio Gartzi, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute.
