The corner led Gimnasia y tiro's Esben Nordborg to fire away a dangerous shot which Brigid Rutherford despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Batuhan Modrić scored 1-0 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Brigid Rutherford, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 20 minutes, Esben Nordborg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gimnasia y tiro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Esben Nordborg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 24 minutes into the match, Gimnasia y tiro's Batuhan Modrić sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Brigid Rutherford narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gimnasia y tiro were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after St. James Gate F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Esben Nordborg took the corner. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind St. James Gate F.C.'s goalkeeper Brigid Rutherford, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match clock showed 35 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Batuhan Modrić sped through St. James Gate F.C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Brigid Rutherford. If Burke Martyn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. St. James Gate F.C.'s Bannon Glen Crowe was substituted for Pearse McWilliam. Batuhan Modrić's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Brigid Rutherford read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Gealan Cooney's late challenge caught a Gimnasia y tiro's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gealan Cooney helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to St. James Gate F.C. getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Gealan Cooney hit a great ball. Batuhan Modrić sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Gimnasia y tiro's Luciano Mouricio got a free kick in the 47th minute. Gimnasia y tiro's Reynaldo Montrelle was substituted for Batuhan Modrić. A collision led to Gimnasia y tiro getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Luciano Mouricio hit a great ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Reynaldo Montrelle to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Reynaldo Montrelle's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Brigid Rutherford was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Gimnasia y tiro's Wieslaw Panasewicz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Barhart Costello in the 70th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reynaldo Montrelle in the 72nd minute of play forced St. James Gate F.C.'s goalkeeper Brigid Rutherford to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. St. James Gate F.C.'s Brigid Rutherford played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reynaldo Montrelle in the 73rd minute of play. Brigid Rutherford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reynaldo Montrelle, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. St. James Gate F.C. made a substitution. Biddy Delaney replaced Barhart Costello. 90 minutes into the game, one of St. James Gate F.C.:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After 92 minutes of play, Gimnasia y tiro's Luciano Mouricio made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Brigid Rutherford was left in no man's land by his defense there! After having played for 100 minutes, Luisito Eguntsenti managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gimnasia y tiro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luisito Eguntsenti was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gimnasia y tiro's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
