When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Jonas Herz sped through Club Atlético de Newell's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dušan Ančic. In the 24th minute Sebastian Percival shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sepp Mainville saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Zelg FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Percival came free, but Sepp Mainville reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sepp Mainville took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebastian Percival, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sepp Mainville showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebastian Percival in the 32nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Spike Foley in the 36th minute of play forced Zelg FC's goalkeeper Sepp Mainville to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37th minute Arbi Newell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sepp Mainville saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zelg FC's Sepp Mainville proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Zelg FC from getting a goal against them. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 54thth minute of the game Sebastian Percival who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Zelg FC's Sepp Mainville was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Jonas Herz came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Zelg FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jonas Herz couldn't finish the play. 60 minutes into the match, Zelg FC's goal looked a bit too open when Devon Howson came free, but Sepp Mainville reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gilles Clerc in the 61stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Dušan Ančic, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Sepp Mainville showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastian Percival, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. 69 minutes into the match, Zelg FC's Jonas Herz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dušan Ančic narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sepp Mainville showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Spike Foley in the 85th minute of the match. After 86th play minutes Gilles Clerc shot 1-4, a short shot which went by Dušan Ančic and just under the crossbar into goal. Club Atlético de Newell's Casey Harban was substituted for Vince Haywood. Zelg FC were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Club Atlético de Newell's much stronger midfield.
