In the 7th minute, Dainius Bagdonas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Miro Rohrer was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 16 minutes into the match, San Diego FC's goalkeeper Yusuf Stegen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Brock Friend. Dainius Bagdonas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Apolo Paez scored 1-1 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Yusuf Stegen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 23 minutes into the match, Apolo Paez notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of San Diego FC's Yusuf Stegen. Yusuf Stegen was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Apolo Paez showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-1 in the 42 minute of play. Dainius Bagdonas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miro Rohrer having to interfere. When Jaroslaw Mierzejewski fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored San Diego FC's protests and gave Jaroslaw Mierzejewski a yellow card for diving instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dainius Bagdonas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Dainius Bagdonas managed to get in a good position for a shot. San Diego FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dainius Bagdonas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
