The audience thought a goal was coming when Guillermo Izquierdo got free with Braulio Gartxot in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 10 minutes into the match, Red Devils's Marcel da Rocha sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Silvio Bazil narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 11 minutes had been played when some careless play by Martin Palermo F.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Sotos Zervoulakos was slow to take the kick. During this time Red Devils's players had a chance to rest. Braulio Gartxot made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giovanni Arósio in the 16th minute of play. When Martin Palermo F.C.'s Giovanni Arósio in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. An unexpectedly hard shot by Giovanni Arósio in the 26th minute of play forced Red Devils's goalkeeper Braulio Gartxot to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Silvio Bazil came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Red Devils's Marcel da Rocha. But to his dismay, Marcel da Rocha quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 32 minutes had been played when some careless play by Martin Palermo F.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Sotos Zervoulakos was slow to take the kick. During this time Red Devils's players had a chance to rest. Martin Palermo F.C.'s Silvio Bazil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcel da Rocha in the 34th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Enrico Giammarino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Martin Palermo F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Enrico Giammarino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Braulio Gartxot breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Red Devils were awarded a corner in the 41th minute after Martin Palermo F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sotos Zervoulakos took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Konrad Wasikowski got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Silvio Bazil quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 43rd match minute, Martin Palermo F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guillermo Izquierdo to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Martin Palermo F.C.'s zone, Marcel da Rocha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Silvio Bazil came out of the goal and Marcel da Rocha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Martin Palermo F.C. getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Mateo Izquierdo hit a great ball. 47 minutes into the match, Martin Palermo F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Sotos Zervoulakos came free, but Silvio Bazil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marcel da Rocha to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Marcel da Rocha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silvio Bazil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 54th minute of the match Red Devils got a corner. Martin Palermo F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sotos Zervoulakos ran over to the corner to take the kick. Simone Spano made a great header on Red Devils's corner, it was just that Martin Palermo F.C.'s Silvio Bazil managed to reach the ball for a save. Silvio Bazil made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcel da Rocha in the 58th minute of play. 61 minutes into the match, Marcel da Rocha had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Silvio Bazil. Martin Palermo F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcel da Rocha was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Marcel da Rocha took the ball and in the 65 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Silvio Bazil. Silvio Bazil dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Marcel da Rocha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Silvio Bazil made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcel da Rocha in the 72nd minute of play. Martin Palermo F.C.'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 79th minute, when Marcel da Rocha scored to the left of an out of position Silvio Bazil, making the score, 0-4. Martin Palermo F.C. made a substitution. Sebastián Izquierdo replaced Giovanni Arósio. In the 88th minute Guillermo Izquierdo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Braulio Gartxot saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Braulio Gartxot made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guillermo Izquierdo in the 88th minute of play. With a little luck, Martin Palermo F.C.'s Silvio Bazil got control of the ball when Marcel da Rocha tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 94th minute, Marcel da Rocha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
