Prokopi Banchevs short, quick shot in the 20thth minute got Igor Akinfeev to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Igor Akinfeev came out of the goal and Prokopi Banchev tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Danila Kolobov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Liang Zhang tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Prokopi Banchev got free with Igor Akinfeev in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Vadim Basmannikov's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Liang Zhang was relentless in the 47th minute of the game.
