The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 19th minute, Florencio Jax got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fomac FK's Erland Söderberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vatan Enfal in the 32nd minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Inter de Chillán's Vatan Enfal sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Erland Söderberg narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 37th minute, Vatan Enfal ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Erland Söderberg was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. If Vatan Enfal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Inter de Chillán were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Armando Paraibano made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Inter de Chillán's goal looked a bit too open when Armando Paraibano came free, but Anton Björnberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Fomac FK booed when Inter de Chillán was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mercurio San Martín didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rickard Erserman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
