The ARGIES fans' excitement grew in the 11th match minute when ARGIES's Feliciano Belmiro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. ARGIES's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. 37 minutes into the game, ARGIES's Esteban Gentza nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Martin Tudor made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Vasile Blănaru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Best Castray having to interfere. The supporters of Progresul Pitesti booed when ARGIES was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfonso Palos didn't get a good kick on the ball.
