Fluminense di Parma's Erik Ramalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tuncer İribaş in the 3rd minute of play. Leonardo Paz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Germano Cano in the 6th minute of the match. 10 minutes into the match, Fluminense di Parma's Germano Cano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Leonardo Paz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luís Paulo Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Leonardo Paz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Paulo Fonseca got free with Leonardo Paz in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luís Paulo Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonardo Paz having to interfere. Kiko Barbosa hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. If Luís Paulo Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 34 minutes into the match, Fenerbahçe's goal looked a bit too open when Germano Cano came free, but Leonardo Paz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Binali Hicabi during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Binali Hicabi hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luís Paulo Fonseca was the one to do the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tuncer İribaş during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fluminense di Parma's Serginho Nóbrega was substituted for Celso Pena. Tuncer İribaş hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Leonardo Paz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Germano Cano, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Özkan Azim replaced Tuncer İribaş. Leonardo Paz came out of the goal in the 75th minute to try and stop a shot by Fluminense di Parma's Germano Cano. But to his dismay, Germano Cano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. If Germano Cano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Fluminense di Parma's zone, Aras Daman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erik Ramalho came out of the goal and Aras Daman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Özkan Azim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Ramalho having to interfere. Leonardo Paz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Paulo Fonseca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
