Óscar Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lv Hai Chong, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. 19 minutes into the game, one of MICE F.C.:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 21st minute, Dimitris Skondras ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Óscar Cordoba was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Menios Tsirkos in the 24th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the match, MICE F.C.'s goalkeeper Christos Perivolakis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Matias Bilintx. In the 25th minute, Rune Fanström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 26 minutes of play, MICE F.C.'s Dimitris Skondras made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Óscar Cordoba was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lv Hai Chong in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Óscar Cordoba prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Saturnino Curcio in the 37th minute of play forced MICE F.C.'s goalkeeper Christos Perivolakis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Christos Perivolakis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Maradona, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Matias Bilintx got free with Christos Perivolakis in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Dimitris Skondras made the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes into the match, Diego Maradona had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Christos Perivolakis. MICE F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Diego Maradona was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Christos Perivolakis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Diego Maradona went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Christos Perivolakis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matias Bilintx in the 68th minute of play. Christos Perivolakis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Maradona in the 70th minute of the match. 72 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Lv Hai Chong came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dimitris Skondras could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Óscar Cordoba made a huge save. Christos Perivolakis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wayne Rooney, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. When Atilano Feo fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sporting de Gijón's protests and gave Atilano Feo a yellow card for diving instead. MICE F.C. made a substitution. Iraklis Mortensøn replaced Isaltino Borges. The supporters of MICE F.C. booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Atilano Feo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dimitris Skondras received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Óscar Cordoba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 90th minute Sporting de Gijón were awarded a corner. Saturnino Curcio went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Sporting de Gijón's Saturnino Curcio to fire away a dangerous shot which Christos Perivolakis despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Dimitris Skondras could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Óscar Cordoba made a huge save. Sporting de Gijón's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
