The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Clas Nørstrup recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Clas Nørstrup in the 9th minute of play forced AFC Chievo Verona's goalkeeper Gürhan Yücel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Clas Nørstrup in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gürhan Yücel saved AFC Chievo Verona from getting behind. 12 minutes into the match, AFC Chievo Verona's goal looked a bit too open when Clas Nørstrup came free, but Gürhan Yücel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gürhan Yücel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clas Nørstrup, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15th minute Clas Nørstrup shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gürhan Yücel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sven-Åke Alebeck in the 20th minute of play forced AFC Chievo Verona's goalkeeper Gürhan Yücel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gürhan Yücel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clas Nørstrup, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. The nice shot from Hugh Kennedy in the 41stth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Svante Stenqvist had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. In the 44th minute, Sven-Åke Alebeck got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 46th minute Sven-Åke Alebeck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gürhan Yücel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hugh Kennedy stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gürhan Yücel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sven-Åke Alebeck in the 53rd minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 93 minutes into the game, when Magnus Winström put in a rough tackle. 93 minutes into the game, one of Söderhall:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Svante Stenqvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Samuel Linkletter in the 98th minute of the match. The Söderhall supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Söderhall would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
