Martín Palermo might have been able to make a better finish in the 3rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Michele Rieger. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Martín Palermo ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 5th minute, Ragnar Lodbrok left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Axenstein fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 10th minute Claudiu Bumba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Nesor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 12 minutes into the match, Axenstein's goalkeeper Michele Rieger had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Martín Palermo. Michele Rieger didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Martín Palermo went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Nemesio Isusko took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 16th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Michele Rieger. Axenstein's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martín Palermo in the 24th minute of play forced Axenstein's goalkeeper Michele Rieger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the game, Claudiu Bumba cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Francisco Nesor was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Metal Juniors's Francisco Nesor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudiu Bumba in the 31st minute of play. Michele Rieger stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Martín Palermo's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. After 39 played minutes Metal Juniors got a freekick which was hit by Haroldo Phelipe. After 42 played minutes Axenstein got a freekick which was hit by Hans Kulenovic. Michele Rieger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marco Ireno in the 43rd minute of play. Haroldo Phelipe hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Martín Palermo made a kick off. The supporters of Axenstein booed when Metal Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leopoldo Itzaina didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 77 minutes, Melker Flink mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Metal Juniors and the Axenstein players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 77 played minutes Metal Juniors got a freekick which was hit by Melker Flink. With an all-out effort, Axenstein's Francisco Nesor threw himself towards the right post 82 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Claudiu Bumba, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Axenstein's Michele Rieger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergio Dennis in the 85th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Axenstein's Christian Spielhofer got a free kick in the 87th minute. Michele Rieger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergio Dennis in the 88th minute of the match. Lennart Zumbrunnen hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Janusz Skaradowski in the 93rd minute of play forced Metal Juniors's goalkeeper Francisco Nesor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Metal Juniors fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Axenstein were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
