When the match clock showed 13 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Nazım Taci sped through Thierry Emry FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Henri-Patrick Widdepenninck. Nazım Taci sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Thierry Emry FC's goalkeeper Henri-Patrick Widdepenninck, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. New York Red Bulls's Eduardo Pereyra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kong Sen Ting in the 24th minute of play. After a rather tough play, New York Red Bulls's Cristinel Alamaru got a free kick in the 25th minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, New York Red Bulls could leave the field as winners, despite Thierry Emry FC having more of the ball for most of the match.
