The Brown de Adrogué fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Godofredo Carlomagno should have stopped the shot. Eladio Ulloa hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. José Luis Chilavert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Casimiro Innocenzio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Disappointed in the 0-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell René Puente to make the kick off.
