The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With an all-out effort, AKI CORINTHIANS's Loui Volens threw himself towards the right post 3 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Eusébio Negri, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Paredes Fortes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barry Van Bever, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of De Beverpatrouille booed when AKI CORINTHIANS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alf Bålström didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 9th match minute, AKI CORINTHIANS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Olívio da Cunha to maneuver through the defense. If Faruk Kaan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. De Beverpatrouille's defense didn't have a chance, in the 15th minute, when Ciro Brasil scored to the left of an out of position Loui Volens, making the score, 1-0. After a rather tough play, De Beverpatrouille's Gérard Van Bever got a free kick in the 20th minute. In the 21st minute of the match Gonçalo da Silveira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Loui Volens showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barry Van Bever in the 23rd minute of play forced AKI CORINTHIANS's goalkeeper Paredes Fortes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paredes Fortes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barry Van Bever in the 27th minute of play. Eusébio Negri kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. The corner led to De Beverpatrouille's Eduard Postolache getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 36 minutes into the match, AKI CORINTHIANS's goal looked a bit too open when Barry Van Bever came free, but Paredes Fortes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Paredes Fortes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Barry Van Bever's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Barry Van Bever put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Paredes Fortes. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barry Van Bever in the 45th minute of play forced AKI CORINTHIANS's goalkeeper Paredes Fortes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Barry Van Bever recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Barry Van Bever stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With his leg Paredes Fortes managed to avoid a goal in the 51stth minute, when De Beverpatrouille's Barry Van Bever fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 55 played minutes De Beverpatrouille got a freekick which was hit by Robby Caspers. Eduard Postolache received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Paredes Fortes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Loui Volens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ciro Brasil, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barry Van Bever in the 69th minute of play forced AKI CORINTHIANS's goalkeeper Paredes Fortes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Ivan Van Meerbeek in the 71st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by AKI CORINTHIANS's Alfred Schrijns. In the 73rd minute Ciro Brasil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Loui Volens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Barry Van Bever in the 79thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Paredes Fortes, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 82 minutes into the match, De Beverpatrouille's Barry Van Bever sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paredes Fortes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Eduard Postolache hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Eusébio Negri received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Loui Volens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 90th minute, Gérard Van Bever hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
