Arturo Cordaro started the match with the kick off. 4 minutes into the match, Red Army's goal looked a bit too open when Arturo Cordaro came free, but Lech Konopka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lech Konopka showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arturo Cordaro in the 4th minute of the match. Hector Cambranes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Przemyslaw Okopny, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bernardinho Romeo kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. ᴡɪʟᴅᴇxʜᴀᴍ ꜰᴄ's Hector Cambranes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Radomil Smolarek in the 15th minute of play. In the 16th minute, Iwan Pawlik made a precise shot to the right of Hector Cambranes. ᴡɪʟᴅᴇxʜᴀᴍ ꜰᴄ's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Hector Cambranes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Przemyslaw Okopny in the 19th minute of play. Lech Konopka was a little too slow when Arturo Cordaro got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 24th minute. The score was now 1-1. A collision led to ᴡɪʟᴅᴇxʜᴀᴍ ꜰᴄ getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Francisco Rojelio hit a great ball. Hector Cambranes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Radomil Smolarek, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute of the match Janusz Niedzwiecki shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hector Cambranes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Red Army getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Izydor Ludwa hit a great ball. ᴡɪʟᴅᴇxʜᴀᴍ ꜰᴄ's Americo Javiar couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Red Army. Red Army's Lech Konopka proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Red Army from getting a goal against them. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Janusz Niedzwiecki stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Red Army's Lech Konopka played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardinho Romeo in the 52nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arturo Cordaro in the 53rd minute of play forced Red Army's goalkeeper Lech Konopka to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Red Army's Lech Konopka played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arturo Cordaro in the 66th minute of play. Przemyslaw Okopny sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hector Cambranes was a little too slow when Radomil Smolarek got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 74th minute. The score was now 3-2. Lech Konopka showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardinho Romeo, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. 86 minutes into the game, Arturo Cordaro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. Lech Konopka was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bernardinho Romeo in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lech Konopka saved Red Army from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Red Army's Janusz Niedzwiecki got a free kick in the 96th minute. Domingos Kemen took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 97th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Lech Konopka. Red Army's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Red Army's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
