Verwachting's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Wiliam Carioca ran over to the corner to take the kick. Wiliam Carioca made a great header on Academia B.F.'s corner, it was just that Verwachting's Herbert Hilhorst managed to reach the ball for a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Primo Sans managed to get in a good position for a shot. Academia B.F.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Primo Sans was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Herbert Hilhorst breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match had gone on for 20 minutes, Twan Hesseling put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Johan Vollander. 24 minutes into the match, Verwachting's goalkeeper Herbert Hilhorst had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Primo Sans. In the 29thth minute of the game Twan Hesseling who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Academia B.F.'s Johan Vollander was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Verwachting were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after Academia B.F.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Adriaan Kuypers took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Twan Hesseling got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Johan Vollander quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 33 minutes into the match, Verwachting's goal looked a bit too open when Primo Sans came free, but Herbert Hilhorst reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Academia B.F.'s Johan Vollander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Twan Hesseling in the 35th minute of play. Johan Vollander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christijan Schreuder, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. In the 38th minute of the match Verwachting got a corner. Academia B.F.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Adriaan Kuypers ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ruud Geels was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Johan Vollander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ruud Geels in the 41st minute of the match. Ruud Geels scored 0-2 in the 41st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Johan Vollander, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Verwachting booed when Academia B.F. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walmir Campidelis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Twan Hesseling was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Academia B.F.'s Lauro Quirino got a free kick in the 51st minute. When Verwachting's Twan Hesseling in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Academia B.F.'s goalie prevented a goal. In the 57th match minute, Academia B.F. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Giss Dal Bello to maneuver through the defense. The long shot by Adriaan Kuypers in the 57th minute really tested Johan Vollander's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Verwachting's Phoenix Soare quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Walmir Campidelis, made in the 59th minute of the game. Johan Vollander made an important save on a dangerous shot by Christijan Schreuder in the 62nd minute. If Twan Hesseling had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Johan Vollander made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Twan Hesseling sent off a good shot on target. In the 71st minute Primo Sans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Herbert Hilhorst saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 74th minute of the match, Twan Hesseling tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Johan Vollander saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Phoenix Soare fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Verwachting's protests and gave Phoenix Soare a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Verwachting getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Herbert Hilhorst showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Michel Totti, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. 82 minutes into the game, Lauro Quirino was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Academia B.F.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Verwachting the free kick. After 82 played minutes Academia B.F. got a freekick which was hit by Lauro Quirino. Christijan Schreuder's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Johan Vollander firmly grabbed it by the left post. After having played for 93 minutes, Christijan Schreuder managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Verwachting's supporters crossed their fingers, but Christijan Schreuder was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Michel Totti came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Academia B.F. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Michel Totti couldn't finish the play. Verwachting played a much better game than Academia B.F. and deserved their victory. The Academia B.F. players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
