The supporters of Santos booed when Montagnole FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anatole Fichot didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 10th minute of the match Georges Lemaistre sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Danny Arpin skillfully saved the ball. A collision led to Santos getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Teófilo Leitão hit a great ball. In the 16th minute, Ramzi Boute hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 16 minutes, Georges Lemaistre managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Santos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Georges Lemaistre was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Montagnole FC's Samy Carreau got a free kick in the 25th minute. Danny Arpin came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Santos's Philippe Sévestre. But to his dismay, Philippe Sévestre quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. The corner led to Montagnole FC's Ramzi Boute getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. If Gabin Génot had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Martial Gobert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Georges Lemaistre's late challenge caught a Montagnole FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Georges Lemaistre helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Santos getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Georges Lemaistre hit a great ball. After 42 played minutes Santos got a freekick which was hit by Philippe Sévestre. Danny Arpin was a little too slow when Philippe Sévestre got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 45th minute. The score was now 2-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When Martial Gobert came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Montagnole FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martial Gobert couldn't finish the play. Danny Arpin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Victor Champenois's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. The audience was convinced that Victor Champenois's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Danny Arpin was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. When Samy Carreau fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Montagnole FC's protests and gave Samy Carreau a yellow card for diving instead. After 59 played minutes Montagnole FC got a freekick which was hit by Samy Carreau. Victor Champenois's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Danny Arpin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. Mathys Turban showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martial Gobert in the 61st minute of the match. The supporters of Santos booed when Montagnole FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Rochat didn't get a good kick on the ball. 66 minutes into the game, Santos's Philippe Sévestre nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Danny Arpin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. When Philippe Sévestre came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Santos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Philippe Sévestre couldn't finish the play. Batiste Lavandier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Mathys Turban tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 78th minute Samy Carreau shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mathys Turban saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martial Gobert in the 79th minute of play forced Santos's goalkeeper Mathys Turban to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gabin Génot made a great header on Montagnole FC's corner, it was just that Santos's Mathys Turban managed to reach the ball for a save. Victor Champenois blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Danny Arpin having to make a save. Georges Lemaistre kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match.
