Mathys Turban took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mathieu Bisson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 9th match minute, Olympique Rémois was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Freddy Rouquet to maneuver through the defense. Georges Lemaistre sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Geoffroy Jourda fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Olympique Rémois's protests and gave Geoffroy Jourda a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Santos booed when Olympique Rémois was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geoffroy Jourda didn't get a good kick on the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Olympique Rémois's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Champenois came free, but Jean-Yves Sebille reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sabri Graff charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sabri Graff the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. With a little luck, Olympique Rémois's Jean-Yves Sebille got control of the ball when Victor Champenois tried to sneak it across the goal line. The nice shot from Victor Champenois in the 20thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Jean-Yves Sebille had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Sabri Graff kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Jean-Yves Sebille didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Philippe Sévestre went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. If Mathieu Bisson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Santos's goalkeeper Mathys Turban, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dove Bouillet's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jean-Yves Sebille read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. In the 39th minute, Freddy Rouquet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Philippe Sévestre could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Jean-Yves Sebille made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Olympique Rémois's Geoffroy Jourda got a free kick in the 44th minute. Jean-Yves Sebille made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Champenois in the 45th minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mathieu Bisson made a kick off. After some careless play in the Olympique Rémois defense, Ben Le Mestre kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jean-Yves Sebille. The Olympique Rémois fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jean-Yves Sebille should have stopped the shot. Olympique Rémois made a substitution. Armand Laveau replaced Germain Bernat. Jean-Yves Sebille showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Philippe Sévestre in the 63rd minute of the match. After 67 played minutes Olympique Rémois got a freekick which was hit by Mathieu Bisson. Jean-Yves Sebille showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Philippe Sévestre, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Olympique Rémois's Davy Trinquier was substituted for Reynald Gastal. Olympique Rémois's Armand Laveau quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Dove Bouillet, made in the 73rd minute of the game. Armand Laveau hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Freddy Rouquet was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 76 minutes into the match. The supporters of Santos booed when Olympique Rémois was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Freddy Rouquet didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85th minute, Armand Laveau fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Mathys Turban, passed just outside the right post. The supporters of Santos booed when Olympique Rémois was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Davy Trinquier didn't get a good kick on the ball. Olympique Rémois's Jean-Yves Sebille played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Philippe Sévestre in the 92nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Olympique Rémois's Armand Laveau got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Jean-Yves Sebille showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Philippe Sévestre in the 94th minute of the match. In the 95th match minute, Olympique Rémois was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matheo Delassus to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Santos fans cheered their team off the field, for while Olympique Rémois had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
