Louison Le Boucher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jochen Sommerhalder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Formation Pure Lyonnaise's Nelson Cloarec played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jochen Sommerhalder in the 27th minute of play. Jochen Sommerhalder sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 32nd minute, Louison Le Boucher hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nelson Cloarec showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jochen Sommerhalder in the 35th minute of the match. Mohamed-Ali Duparc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pavel Chivu having to interfere. Nelson Cloarec took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Louison Le Boucher, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jochen Sommerhalder in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nelson Cloarec saved Formation Pure Lyonnaise from getting behind. Jochen Sommerhalder recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Terry Grison might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nelson Cloarec. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Terry Grison ran back to his position shaking his head. If Jochen Sommerhalder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The audience was convinced that Davy Giacomoni's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pavel Chivu was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. Jochen Sommerhalder might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nelson Cloarec. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jochen Sommerhalder ran back to his position shaking his head. Jochen Sommerhalder blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nelson Cloarec having to make a save. Mohamed-Ali Duparc kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. With an all-out effort, massïlia's Nelson Cloarec threw himself towards the right post 79 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jochen Sommerhalder, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Louison Le Boucher came free with the goalkeeper in the 80th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Nelson Cloarec could save by the left post. If Jochen Sommerhalder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to massïlia getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Matheo Claret hit a great ball. Nelson Cloarec stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jochen Sommerhalder's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pascal Collon during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. With a little luck, Formation Pure Lyonnaise's Nelson Cloarec got control of the ball when Jochen Sommerhalder tried to sneak it across the goal line.
