A collision led to Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Nguyễn Huynh Duc hit a great ball. San lorenzo de Santa fe's Juan Franco proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save San lorenzo de Santa fe from getting a goal against them. Cosme Sedeni kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Juan Franco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lê Minh in the 13th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Geronimo Cordarryl in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Trần Bay saved Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC from getting behind. In the 15thth minute of the game Geronimo Cordarryl who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's Trần Bay was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some careless play in the Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC defense, Geronimo Cordarryl kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Trần Bay. The Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Trần Bay should have stopped the shot. Trần Bay came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by San lorenzo de Santa fe's Geronimo Cordarryl. But to his dismay, Geronimo Cordarryl quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Lê Minh took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Juan Franco. Juan Franco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. In the 35th minute, Lê Minh left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. If Virgilio Nabar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd minute Hồ Mai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juan Franco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juan Franco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Huy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Juan Franco came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's Nguyễn Huy. But to his dismay, Nguyễn Huy quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-2 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Geronimo Cordarryl stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lê Minh in the 57th minute of play forced San lorenzo de Santa fe's goalkeeper Juan Franco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 59th minute, Virgilio Nabar ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Trần Bay was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-3. For all the effort they put into the match, the San lorenzo de Santa fe players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC.
