In the 10th minute Lucian Huțupan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trần Bay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 13th match minute, Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trịnh Thanh Bình to maneuver through the defense. Trần Bay showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lucian Huțupan in the 19th minute of the match. Codrin Vrabie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Huy, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Trần Bay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucian Huțupan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lucian Huțupan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Bay having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lucian Huțupan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Mihail Zogreanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nguyễn Nhật Minh took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 53rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Codrin Vrabie. Cere's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucrețiu Blejan in the 55th minute of play forced Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's goalkeeper Trần Bay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lucian Huțupan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Trần Bay made a huge save. Hồ Mai got his second yellow card in the match during the 69th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 70th match minute, Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hồ Mai to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's Võ Teo got a free kick in the 72nd minute. 1-2 became the score in the 74th minute when Lucian Huțupan elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Lucrețiu Blejan kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Trần Bay. That made the score 2-3 in the 96 minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Cere walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
