Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Brian Rose made the kick off and thus started the match. Brian Rose's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Toby Topham read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 3rd minute of play. Spike Holbrook hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. After 11 played minutes K.S.V Waregem got a freekick which was hit by Phillip Wilson. Tristan Routledge charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tristan Routledge the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Gainsborough FC's Tristan Routledge got a free kick in the 14th minute. Trevor Kempson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Freddie Cousens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rio Abbotts recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in K.S.V Waregem's zone, Brian Rose stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Toby Topham came out of the goal and Brian Rose tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Gainsborough FC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Patrick Donaghy hit a great ball. Brian Rose sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 39 minutes, Brian Barat mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the K.S.V Waregem and the Gainsborough FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Gainsborough FC made a substitution. Dennis Lambert replaced Jamal Beattie. Brian Rose received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Toby Topham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
51 minutes into the match, K.S.V Waregem's goal looked a bit too open when Brian Rose came free, but Toby Topham reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brian Rose might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Toby Topham. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Brian Rose ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, K.S.V Waregem's Crispin Hepburn got a free kick in the 54th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brian Rose in the 58th minute of play forced K.S.V Waregem's goalkeeper Toby Topham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 61 played minutes K.S.V Waregem got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Claydon. Toby Topham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brian Rose, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 68 minutes into the match, Huey Hughes notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Gainsborough FC's Freddie Cousens. Freddie Cousens was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 75th minute, Gainsborough FC's Brian Rose ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Toby Topham. Toby Topham yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. In the 80th minute Brian Rose shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Toby Topham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Adrian Claydon during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 82 played minutes K.S.V Waregem got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Claydon. Phillip Wilson made in the 91st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Trevor Kempson. Brian Rose sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Many of Gainsborough FC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Gainsborough FC may have spent more time on the ball, but K.S.V Waregem were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
