An unexpectedly hard shot by Steven Hong in the 6th minute of play forced Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's goalkeeper Trần Bay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Trần Bay stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Steven Hong's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. In the 8th minute, Trịnh Thanh Bình hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 9th minute, Steven Hong ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Trần Bay was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After 13 minutes, Nguyễn Huynh Duc mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC and the big bals United players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Nguyễn Huynh Duc hit a great ball. In the 20th match minute, Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Tan to maneuver through the defense. Trần Bay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alam Singh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 26 minutes into the match, big bals United's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Huy came free, but Ali Hong reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's Trần Bay proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC from getting a goal against them. Albert Teo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Steven Hong came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the big bals United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steven Hong couldn't finish the play. Ali Hong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lê Minh in the 35th minute of the match. A collision led to Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Lê Minh hit a great ball. 38 minutes into the match, Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's goal looked a bit too open when Steven Hong came free, but Trần Bay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Trần Bay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Steven Hong, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. After 44 played minutes Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Tan. Steven Hongs short, quick shot in the 45thth minute got Trần Bay to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Steven Hong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Bay having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nguyễn Huy to strike the kick off in the second half. A hard shot 59 in the game by Lê Minh from a close distance when the talented Ali Hong managed to make a qualified save. big bals United's players were relieved. Steven Hong received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Trần Bay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Albert Teo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Trần Bay read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. Albert Teo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Bay having to interfere. Afiz Hongyi scored 2-2 in the 81st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Trần Bay, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nguyễn Huy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Ali Hong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mark Tuan during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Lê Minh took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ali Hong. Ali Hong dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
