After taking down the ball on AFC Wimbledon Wombles's corner Brendon Crouch fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Alex Toolenaar quite easily take care of the ball. 8 minutes into the match, Burgh HC's goal looked a bit too open when Jon Newman came free, but Alex Toolenaar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Edward Otten came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Burgh HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edward Otten couldn't finish the play. In the 17th minute, Brendon Crouch got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Edward Otten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th minute Edward Otten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dale Nelson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edward Otten charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edward Otten the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Burgh HC's Edward Otten got a free kick in the 30th minute. A collision led to AFC Wimbledon Wombles getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Jonny Lovell hit a great ball. In the 35th minute, Burgh HC's Edward Otten ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dale Nelson. Dale Nelson yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. After having played for 45 minutes, Edward Robben managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Burgh HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edward Robben was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edward Otten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sidney Dunn to make the kick off. Edward Robben might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dale Nelson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Robben ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in AFC Wimbledon Wombles's zone, Job Wieringh stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dale Nelson came out of the goal and Job Wieringh tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edward Otten struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Dale Nelson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Burgh HC. Edward Robben blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dale Nelson having to make a save. If Jon Newman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sidney Dunn who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 80thth minute tested the skills of Alex Toolenaar when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Burgh HC getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Giovanni Craandijk hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Edward Otten's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dale Nelson was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. In the 93rd minute, Sidney Dunn left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AFC Wimbledon Wombles fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1.
