Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Steven McGrowther kicked off to start the match. The throw-in from Nguyễn Tan in the 6th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Helensburgh FC's Timmy Armour. Timmy Armour sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Steven McGrowther kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Trần Bay. That made the score 1-0 in the 12 minute of play. Trần Bay was out of position in the 18 minute of play, and Miles McKinnell capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Miles McKinnell really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Steven McGrowther received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Trần Bay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nguyễn Tan made in the 25th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Nguyễn Huynh Duc however managed to control. In the 26th minute, one of Helensburgh FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Helensburgh FC. In the 29th minute, Steven McGrowther got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's zone, Miles McKinnell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Trần Bay came out of the goal and Miles McKinnell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Miles McKinnell blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Trần Bay having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Steven McGrowther managed to get in a good position for a shot. Helensburgh FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Steven McGrowther was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Trần Bay breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Trần Bay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steven McGrowther in the 34th minute of play. Trần Bay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Steven McGrowther, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 41 minutes into the match, Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's goal looked a bit too open when Simon Bowmaker came free, but Trần Bay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's Võ Teo got a free kick in the 43rd minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
When Steven McGrowther came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Helensburgh FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steven McGrowther couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Steven McGrowther in the 54th minute of play forced Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's goalkeeper Trần Bay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 56th match minute, Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hồ Mai to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC booed when Helensburgh FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Connor McIlzegowie didn't get a good kick on the ball. Steven McGrowther received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Trần Bay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 66 minutes into the match, Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's Hồ Mai sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lloyd McCamie narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Helensburgh FC's Simon Bowmaker got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC defense, Simon Bowmaker kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Trần Bay. The Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Trần Bay should have stopped the shot. A sloppy throw-in by Nguyễn Tan in the 85th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Helensburgh FC's Timmy Armour. Timmy Armour struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Trần Bay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Helensburgh FC. After 92 minutes of play, Helensburgh FC's Steven McGrowther made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Trần Bay was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Steven McGrowther had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Helensburgh FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
