Helensburgh FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Steven McGrowther was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ali Hong breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 14 minutes into the game, Steven McGrowther cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. The wind increased when Steven Hong made the kick off in the second half. If Steven McGrowther had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 50th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 54th minute, David Beath hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Ronald Alcock came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Helensburgh FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronald Alcock couldn't finish the play. In the 63rd minute Steven Hong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lloyd McCamie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Steven McGrowther had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ali Hong didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Helensburgh FC. Helensburgh FC's Miles McKinnell got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Helensburgh FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
