An unexpected shot in the 6th minute by Trevor Kempson got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 7 minutes into the game, Huey Hughes lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Trần Bay. 10 minutes into the match, Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's goal looked a bit too open when Adrian Claydon came free, but Trần Bay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nguyễn Huy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 18 minutes into the match, K.S.V Waregem's goal looked a bit too open when Trịnh Thanh Bình came free, but Toby Topham reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Crispin Hepburn charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Crispin Hepburn the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Trần Bay made an important save on a dangerous shot by Trevor Kempson in the 25th minute. If Hồ Mai had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Toby Topham showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trịnh Thanh Bình, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Terry Slator struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Trần Bay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for K.S.V Waregem. Pat Bowe hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, K.S.V Waregem's Terry Slator got a free kick in the 37th minute. 40 minutes into the match, Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's goal looked a bit too open when Huey Hughes came free, but Trần Bay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Crispin Hepburn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Crispin Hepburn came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the K.S.V Waregem fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Crispin Hepburn couldn't finish the play. In the 46th minute, Terry Slator fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Trần Bay, passed just outside the right post.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nguyễn Huy was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute, Huey Hughes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The K.S.V Waregem fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. When K.S.V Waregem's Huey Hughes in the 58th minute got a chance for a shot 58th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After some careless play in the Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC defense, Trevor Kempson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Trần Bay. The Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Trần Bay should have stopped the shot. In the 68th minute, Nguyễn Huy fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Toby Topham, passed just outside the right post. Huey Hughes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 78 minutes of play, K.S.V Waregem's Huey Hughes made it 5-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Trần Bay was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 81st match minute, Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Võ Teo to maneuver through the defense. Trần Bay came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by K.S.V Waregem's Terry Slator. But to his dismay, Terry Slator quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-1. Pat Bowe took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 87th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Trần Bay. Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 88thth minute of the game Huey Hughes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's Trần Bay was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lê Minh could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Toby Topham made a huge save. When the match clock showed 94 minutes, the score became 7-1 when Huey Hughes sped through Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Trần Bay. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. K.S.V Waregem had played much better football throughout.
