Cafu Martins was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 4th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Dieguinho Amaral blasted a shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hortêncio Duarte having to make a save. Mané Bezerra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Hortêncio Duarte showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ruy Carneiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Paulopolis's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cícero Reis in the 18th minute. Hortêncio Duarte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sérgio Gonçalves in the 20th minute of play. Cayetano Rito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mané Bezerra in the 23rd minute of play. Cayetano Rito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mané Bezerra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the last second Hortêncio Duarte throw himself and got hold of the ball when Dieguinho Amaral in the 36thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. When Paulopolis's Dieguinho Amaral in the 36th minute got a chance for a shot 36th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Pindorama's goalie prevented a goal. Hortêncio Duarte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dieguinho Amaral in the 38th minute of the match. Hortêncio Duarte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dieguinho Amaral in the 40th minute. When Luís Paulo Sabóia came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Paulopolis fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luís Paulo Sabóia couldn't finish the play. In the 45th match minute, Paulopolis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cícero Reis to maneuver through the defense. After 48 played minutes Paulopolis got a freekick which was hit by Dieguinho Amaral. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
The supporters of Paulopolis booed when Pindorama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laerte Fontes didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Henrique Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hortêncio Duarte stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dieguinho Amaral's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Pindorama's zone, Dieguinho Amaral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hortêncio Duarte came out of the goal and Dieguinho Amaral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 59 played minutes Pindorama got a freekick which was hit by Genílson Marques. In the 61st minute, Maurício Motta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 63 minutes, Luisão Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pindorama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luisão Rocha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 68th minute, Pindorama's Bernardo Terra seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Bernardo Terra the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Pindorama protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Bernardo Terra had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 67th minute, one of Pindorama:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Pindorama. Pindorama:s Hortêncio Duarte showed great skill when he stopped Cícero Reis:s penalty. Cícero Reis took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hortêncio Duarte. Hortêncio Duarte dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. 73 minutes into the game, Paulopolis's Ruy Carneiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hortêncio Duarte made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mané Bezerra in the 77th minute of play forced Paulopolis's goalkeeper Cayetano Rito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pindorama's Hortêncio Duarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ruy Carneiro in the 79th minute of play. In the 80th match minute, Paulopolis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denílson Sena to maneuver through the defense. Luís Paulo Sabóia took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hortêncio Duarte. Hortêncio Duarte dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. The Paulopolis fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. Pindorama's Hortêncio Duarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Paulo Sabóia in the 97th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Dieguinho Amaral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hortêncio Duarte was relentless in the 98th minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Paulopolis had won after a very even match.
