The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. John-Paul Nevin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zack Langdon in the 3rd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Yardley's zone, Darius Bell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pete Eslworth came out of the goal and Darius Bell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Zack Langdon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 10th minute, Zack Langdon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pete Eslworth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Richard Rogers, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Yardley's Pete Eslworth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Darius Bell in the 17th minute of play. Zack Langdon succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 21st playminute. In the 26th minute, Stephen Goodfellow hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pat Tisdale kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. When Darius Bell came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Polzeath fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Darius Bell couldn't finish the play. Richard Rogers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Pete Eslworth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Richard Rogers to make the kick off. Franz Scargill hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Ian Caton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 59 minutes, Richard Rogers managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Polzeath's supporters crossed their fingers, but Richard Rogers was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zack Langdon might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over John-Paul Nevin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zack Langdon ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 72nd minute, Darius Bell ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pete Eslworth was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. If Zack Langdon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stephen Goodfellow sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Richard Rogers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Polzeath defense, Ian Caton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of John-Paul Nevin. The Polzeath fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that John-Paul Nevin should have stopped the shot. Zack Langdon might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over John-Paul Nevin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zack Langdon ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Yardley's Sidney Bancroft got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Zack Langdon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-Paul Nevin having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Zack Langdon's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but John-Paul Nevin was relentless in the 98th minute of the game. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
