Hugo Montenegro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yiyo Navaes in the 14th minute of the match. In the 16th match minute, Giru EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicolas Fonseca to maneuver through the defense. Hugo Montenegro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yiyo Navaes, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Méndez Cañellas might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hugo Montenegro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Méndez Cañellas ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Laerte Nóbrega's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ferrer Urtiaga was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. González Codony's late challenge caught a Giru EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hamílton Couto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Méndez Cañellas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugo Montenegro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alexandre Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Ferrer Urtiaga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Laerte Nóbrega recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hugo Montenegro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yiyo Navaes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 63rd minute Espínola Jaramillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugo Montenegro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Yiyo Navaes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Giru EC defense, Vinicio Cachorro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hugo Montenegro. The Giru EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hugo Montenegro should have stopped the shot. Laerte Nóbrega received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Ferrer Urtiaga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 79th minute, Yiyo Navaes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Tiki FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. The supporters of Giru EC booed when Tiki FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roris Luciano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Laerte Nóbrega's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ferrer Urtiaga firmly grabbed it by the left post. Giru EC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
