In the 16th match minute, Alicante FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marco Saez to maneuver through the defense. The referee ignored Alicante FC's protests and gave Mustafá Carceles a yellow card for diving instead. Mustafá Carceles kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Polzeath's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Steve Stamer in the 30th minute. Polzeath's Richard Rogers was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julián Aballe in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Through an outstanding action, after 34 minutes, John-Paul Nevin successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 37 minutes into the match, Richard Rogers notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Alicante FC's Julián Aballe. Julián Aballe was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 44 minutes into the match, Alicante FC's goal looked a bit too open when Darius Bell came free, but Julián Aballe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Darius Bell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Darius Bell charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Darius Bell the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Darius Bell hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. After 48 played minutes Polzeath got a freekick which was hit by Franz Scargill.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kiko Castelao to make the kick off. Darius Bell took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julián Aballe. Julián Aballe dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. Alicante FC's Julián Aballe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alf Croft in the 59th minute of play. Mustafá Carceles got his second yellow card in the match during the 62nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After a rather tough play, Alicante FC's Mustafá Carceles got a free kick in the 63rd minute. During the 68th minute of the match Darius Bell completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Darius Bell a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 68th match minute, Polzeath was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Darius Bell to maneuver through the defense. When Richard Rogers came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Polzeath fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Richard Rogers couldn't finish the play. John-Paul Nevin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Richard Rogers got free with Julián Aballe in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
