Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) 3 minutes into the match, Richard Rogers dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Pete Eslworth, 1-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Richard Rogers in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pete Eslworth saved Yardley from getting behind. Zack Langdon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-Paul Nevin having to interfere. After some careless play in the Polzeath defense, Zack Langdon kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of John-Paul Nevin. The Polzeath fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that John-Paul Nevin should have stopped the shot. In the 22nd match minute, Yardley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sidney Bancroft to maneuver through the defense. After 24 minutes, Abraham Banks mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Yardley and the Polzeath players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 28th minute Ian Caton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John-Paul Nevin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 30th minute, Stephen Goodfellow hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 31st minute of the game. One of Yardley:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Polzeath:s goal. The goalkeeper, Pete Eslworth, was totally fooled by Polzeath's Steve Stamer, who 33 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 36th match minute, Polzeath was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Syd Kinsey to maneuver through the defense. Tristram Yeo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 37th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for John-Paul Nevin. Polzeath's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Darius Bell got free with Pete Eslworth in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. John-Paul Nevin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zack Langdon in the 45th minute of play. Richard Rogers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pete Eslworth having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Richard Rogers made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Polzeath's zone, Stephen Goodfellow stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. John-Paul Nevin came out of the goal and Stephen Goodfellow tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Stephen Goodfellow charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Stephen Goodfellow the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 53rd match minute, Yardley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stephen Goodfellow to maneuver through the defense. In the 62nd minute, Conan Hogg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Polzeath's John-Paul Nevin got control of the ball when Zack Langdon tried to sneak it across the goal line. Stephen Goodfellow hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. After 68 minutes, Darius Bell made it 4-1 with a short kick to the right side. Yardley's Pete Eslworth tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 82 minutes into the game, Ian Caton lined in a short shot 4-3 behind a frustrated John-Paul Nevin. A collision led to Yardley getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Stephen Goodfellow hit a great ball. After 92 played minutes, Polzeath's Steve Stamer shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Pete Eslworth came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Polzeath reached it. Polzeath's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
