The Shadows's Earl Mcvey proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save The Shadows from getting a goal against them. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nelson Mogork couldn't finish the play. When the match clock showed 41 minutes, the score became 0-4 when Darley Adamson sped through Killashee's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Brann McNamee. Nelson Mogork struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Brann McNamee didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Shadows. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The supporters of Killashee booed when The Shadows was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bickford Serena didn't get a good kick on the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in The Shadows fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 80th minute. Penalty! After 88 minutes, Barnard Rafferty mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the The Shadows and the Killashee players grew even worse after the yellow card. Bennett Andrusiow fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brann McNamee having to interfere.
