An unexpectedly hard shot by Darley Adamson in the 20th minute of play forced Mullabryan's goalkeeper Ricard Doyle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, The Shadows's Earl Mcvey got control of the ball when Cathal Horgan tried to sneak it across the goal line. 45 minutes into the match, Mullabryan's goal looked a bit too open when Darley Adamson came free, but Ricard Doyle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
