Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Turkey's Turgut Soyuer started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Turgut Soyuer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Turkey fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Vitomir Starokin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Turgut Soyuer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stanislav Búlgarov received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Cankut Wakabayashi came out and tried to block the shot, but Stanislav Búlgarov slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 7th minute. Turkey's Tevfik Hunalp quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ilko Hindalov, made in the 22nd minute of the game. With his leg Cankut Wakabayashi managed to avoid a goal in the 23rdth minute, when Bulgaria's Lachezar Kavaldzhiev fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stanislav Búlgarov got free with Cankut Wakabayashi in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 26th minute Parvan Dakelov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cankut Wakabayashi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stanislav Búlgarov in the 28th minute of play forced Turkey's goalkeeper Cankut Wakabayashi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Turkey's Turgut Soyuer in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bulgaria's goalie prevented a goal. In the 37th minute, Turgut Soyuer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Turkey fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Turkey's Turgut Soyuer got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 40th minute Parvan Dakelov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cankut Wakabayashi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 46th minute, Bulgaria's Parvan Dakelov dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The wind increased when Stanislav Búlgarov made the kick off in the second half. Ginyo Tzutzekov made in the 53rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Turkey's Gürhan Sarıoğlu. Turgut Soyuer blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vitomir Starokin having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Turgut Soyuer in the 55th minute of play forced Bulgaria's goalkeeper Vitomir Starokin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stanislav Búlgarov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Turkey booed when Bulgaria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ginyo Tzutzekov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bulgaria's Tzvetan Mudrov was substituted for Lachezar Kavaldzhiev. After 67 played minutes Bulgaria got a freekick which was hit by Ginyo Tzutzekov. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zé Dos Reis got free with Vitomir Starokin in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 74thth minute of the game Parvan Dakelov who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Turkey's Cankut Wakabayashi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 75 minutes into the match, Turkey's goal looked a bit too open when Stanislav Búlgarov came free, but Cankut Wakabayashi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 77th minute, Parvan Dakelov ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cankut Wakabayashi was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. In the 85th minute, Zé Dos Reis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vitomir Starokin was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3. Parvan Dakelov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Cankut Wakabayashi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 94th minute, Bulgaria's Yoncho Prelkov seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Yoncho Prelkov the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Bulgaria protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Yoncho Prelkov had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Bulgaria's Anton Gevechanov was substituted for Parvan Dakelov. After 94 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Bulgaria! When the match had been going on for 97 minutes, Turkey's Aydın Tor got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Vitomir Starokin. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Turkey eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
