Seating: 2100, VIP seats: 96) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when David Pimentel got the match started through his kick off. 2 minutes into the match, Maitros FC's goalkeeper Alvaro Baptista had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felipe Cerna. In the 3rd minute, Odir Contrera hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manuel Meza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 6th minute the ball was on its way in behind Maitros FC's goalkeeper Alvaro Baptista, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 15th minute, SantaAna's Carmelo Benavides seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Carmelo Benavides the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of SantaAna protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Carmelo Benavides had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 15th minute of the game. One of SantaAna:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Maitros FC:s goal. Oswaldo Lima shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Salvador Menjivar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arturo Mendez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 21 minutes into the match, SantaAna's goal looked a bit too open when Oswaldo Lima came free, but Salvador Menjivar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Salvador Menjivar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oswaldo Lima in the 24th minute of the match. In the 26th minute, Erick Palencia left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Maitros FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 32 minutes into the game, SantaAna's Oswaldo Reyes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alvaro Baptista made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Oswaldo Reyes struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Alvaro Baptista didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SantaAna. In the 39th minute of the match SantaAna got a corner. Maitros FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Félix Suarez ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Félix Suarez got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Alvaro Baptista quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. SantaAna's Salvador Menjivar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Pimentel in the 42nd minute of play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Oswaldo Reyes was the one to do the kick off. Alvaro Baptista came out of the goal in the 51st minute to try and stop a shot by SantaAna's Edgardo Carrillo. But to his dismay, Edgardo Carrillo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. If Oswaldo Reyes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. David Pimentel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to SantaAna getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Manuel Meza hit a great ball. Félix Suarez took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alvaro Baptista. Alvaro Baptista dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. Salvador Menjivar was a little too slow when Arturo Mendez got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 67th minute. The score was now 4-2. Edgardo Carrillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Maitros FC's Oswaldo Lima got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Alvaro Baptista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oswaldo Reyes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edgardo Carrillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Oswaldo Lima was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 92nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Maitros FC's Rolando Ribeiro got a free kick in the 94th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Maitros FC's zone, Oswaldo Reyes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alvaro Baptista came out of the goal and Oswaldo Reyes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Many of Maitros FC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Maitros FC may have spent more time on the ball, but SantaAna were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
