Jonas Hodei was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 31st minute, Sixto Mel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 32nd minute, Ambrosio Nahia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jonas Hodei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mauro Oinaz in the 34th minute of play. When Eduardo Santiago got free in front of the goal in the 37th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Maximiliano Egun was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Mauro Oinaz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Independencia AFC booed when Retiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaston Sancho didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eduardo Santiago was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Eduardo Santiago had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Maximiliano Egun. Retiro's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eduardo Santiago was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Independencia AFC's Jonas Hodei proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Independencia AFC from getting a goal against them. Retiro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mauro Oinaz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ambrosio Nahia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonas Hodei having to interfere. Mauro Oinaz's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 65thth minute, Jonas Hodei skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ambrosio Nahia in the 70th minute of play forced Independencia AFC's goalkeeper Jonas Hodei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonas Hodei was a little too slow when Everardo Bide got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 81st minute. The score was now 2-2. With his leg Jonas Hodei managed to avoid a goal in the 88thth minute, when Retiro's Mauro Oinaz fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Maximiliano Egun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gualterio Jerardo in the 92nd minute of the match. In the 92nd minute, one of Retiro:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Retiro.
