When Danilo Aritza fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Naranjo's protests and gave Danilo Aritza a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Funes booed when Naranjo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danilo Aritza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Isidro Soin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ovidio Garci having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Ovidio Garci didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Naranjo. After having played for 96 minutes, Enrique Eladio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Naranjo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enrique Eladio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Isidro Soin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee ended the match the Naranjo players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
