Zeledon Lia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Melquiades Rius in the 22nd minute of play. If Amador Argina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Simon Osoro kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Naré AFC's Alejandro Llorian got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alejandro Llorian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Amador Argina managed to get in a good position for a shot. Naré AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Amador Argina was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lucas Tomi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 42nd minute, Alejandro Llorian made a precise shot to the right of Lucas Tomi. Cruz Azul's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Cruz Azul's Lucas Tomi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amador Argina in the 49th minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Amador Argina made a kick off. Naré AFC's Amador Argina got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Melquiades Rius fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cruz Azul's protests and gave Melquiades Rius a yellow card for diving instead. Alejandro Llorian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristobal Enmanuel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 63 played minutes Cruz Azul got a freekick which was hit by Angel Chano. In the 64th minute, Ildefonso Mannuel sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Cruz Azul's Lucas Tomi didn't even have to move. Lucas Tomi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amador Argina in the 74th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Cruz Azul's Zeledon Lia threw himself towards the right post 78 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Melquiades Rius, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Gustavo Lamberto's late challenge caught a Cruz Azul's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gustavo Lamberto helped the player get up and apologised.
