Marcial Manni charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marcial Manni the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Virgilio Mirande tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 20th minute Arturo Telo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maximino Hulberto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Horquilla AFC's Arturo Telo got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Hondo in the 22nd minute of play forced Vanguardia FC's goalkeeper Maximino Hulberto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Godfredo Venceslas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Godfredo Venceslas couldn't finish the play. After the first half Horquilla AFC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arturo Telo made a kick off. Arturo Telo was extremely unlucky when he, in the 53rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 55th minute, Tomás Mateus hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Esteban Elodio fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Horquilla AFC's protests and gave Esteban Elodio a yellow card for diving instead. Esteban Elodio hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. After 63 minutes of play Horquilla AFC's Esteban Elodio was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, Horquilla AFC's Esteban Elodio got a free kick in the 63rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Vanguardia FC's zone, Augusto Hondo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maximino Hulberto came out of the goal and Augusto Hondo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Horquilla AFC's Augusto Hondo got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 73 minutes, Godfredo Venceslas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vanguardia FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Godfredo Venceslas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Horquilla AFC's Augusto Hondo got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Virgilio Mirande took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Godfredo Venceslas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Maximino Hulberto made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Augusto Hondo sent off a good shot on target. When Arturo Telo came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Horquilla AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arturo Telo couldn't finish the play. Augusto Hondo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle sounded Horquilla AFC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Vanguardia FC.
